Presentation Overview

Jewish-Christian dialogue has a long history in the Western world, but the Israeli context presents unique conditions. Here, for the first time in modern history, Jews are the majority and Christians are a minority, and their encounter takes place within a complex social and political reality of shared life and ongoing conflict.

The lecture explores how this reality shapes Jewish-Christian dialogue in Israel and the challenges and possibilities it creates. Unlike traditional frameworks of dialogue, the encounter is not only theological or historical, but also directly connected to questions of identity, belonging, nationality, and majority-minority relations.

The lecture also examines the diversity of the Christian presence in Israel: Palestinian and Arab citizens, immigrants and newcomers, migrant workers, and other Christian communities integrated into Israeli society. In this context, dialogue is not merely a choice, but to a large extent a necessity arising from shared life, raising new questions about the encounter between Jews and Christians in Israel.
