About the Institute
The Institute for Hebrew Language and Literature is the research unit of the Center for Hebrew Language and Literature, an independent non-governmental research organisation headquartered in Belgrade, Republic of Serbia. The Center was established in 2010.
The Institute carries out scholarly, educational and publishing activities in Hebrew Studies and related disciplines. Its work forms part of a broader research infrastructure dedicated to independent scholarship, international academic cooperation, scholarly publishing and the dissemination of scientific knowledge in accordance with the principles of academic integrity and Open Science.
Research areas include Hebrew language and Hebrew linguistics, Biblical Hebrew, Biblical Studies, Jewish Studies, Semitic Studies, textual criticism, Dead Sea Scrolls, Hebrew literature, onomastics, historical linguistics, translation studies, Ancient Near Eastern Studies, Biblical Archaeology and related disciplines.

International Academic Cooperation
The Center has established an international academic network through the European Hebrew Journal and its international Editorial Board, whose members are affiliated with universities and research institutions across Europe, North America and the Middle East.
The Center welcomes cooperation with universities, research institutes, libraries, museums, archives, academic publishers and individual researchers.
The Conference Initiative
The Religion, Society & Interreligious Studies international conference series is an interdisciplinary conference initiative organised by the Institute for Hebrew Language and Literature.
The series provides a forum for international scholarly exchange on religion, society, religious communities, identity, interreligious relations and related historical, sociological, legal and cultural questions.
The 2027 conference, "Christians and Muslims in Israel — Facts, Myths and Lived Reality," will take place online via Zoom from 25–28 January 2027.
