What is this conference series about?

The Religion, Society & Interreligious Studies conference series is a permanent international academic platform hosted by the Institute for Hebrew Language and Literature at the University of Belgrade. Each annual conference focuses on a specific theme within the broad field of religion, society, sociology of religion, religious studies, interreligious relations, and related disciplines.

Who organises the conference?

The conference is organised by the Institute for Hebrew Language and Literature in Belgrade, Serbia. The Institute is an academic centre dedicated to Hebrew studies, religious studies, and interreligious relations.

Is this a one-time event or recurring?

This is a recurring annual conference series. Each year, a new theme is selected within the broad field of religion, society, and interreligious studies. The first conference under this platform will take place on 25–28 January 2027, focusing on "Christians and Muslims in Israel — Facts, Myths and Lived Reality."

How do I register for the conference?

You can register through the registration form on our website. The conference is held online via Zoom on 25–28 January 2027.

What are the registration fees?

Registration fees vary by period: €39 general (until 1 November 2026), €49 general (2 November – 15 December 2026), €59 general (16 December 2026 – 25 January 2027). Student rates are €15, €20, and €25 respectively (with valid student ID).

What is included in registration?

Registration includes access to all conference sessions via Zoom, conference programme and digital materials, online participation in sessions, opportunity to participate in discussions and Q&A, and a certificate of participation.

Paper Submissions

How do I submit a paper proposal?

Submit your proposed paper title and abstract (maximum 150 words) using the abstract submission form on our website. The final deadline for submission is 10 October 2026. Authors are strongly encouraged to submit as early as possible to allow sufficient time for review and feedback.

What topics are accepted for paper presentations?

We welcome papers on any aspect of the conference theme. Please see the Topics page for a comprehensive list of thematic areas. Papers should present original research and contribute to academic understanding of the conference theme.

What is the working language?

The working language of the conference is English. All paper submissions and presentations must be in English.

How will I be notified about my submission?

The Programme Committee will review your proposal and contact you by email to inform you of the outcome.

Practical Information

How do I access the conference?

The conference is held online via Zoom on 25–28 January 2027 (14:00–20:00 CET). Once you register, you will receive a Zoom link and access instructions.

What time zone will the conference use?

All conference sessions use Central European Time (CET). The conference runs from 14:00 to 20:00 CET each day.

What language will the conference be conducted in?

The working language of the conference is English. All presentations and discussions will be conducted in English.

What technical requirements do I need?

You will need a computer or device with internet access and a web browser or Zoom application. A camera and microphone are recommended for active participation.

Can I access sessions after the live broadcast?
