Biblical Archaeology and the Ancient Near East

The programme features archaeological discoveries and research concerning ancient Israel, Jerusalem, Shiloh, Lachish, Bethsaida, inscriptions, material culture and the historical geography of the biblical world.

Presentations examine archaeological evidence alongside historical sources and biblical traditions, encouraging critical interdisciplinary discussion.

Qumran, Dead Sea Scrolls and Ancient Manuscripts

Scholars address the Dead Sea Scrolls, Qumran manuscripts, the Great Isaiah Scroll, textual criticism, manuscript transmission, ancient versions, palaeography and the reconstruction and interpretation of ancient texts.

Second Temple Judaism and Early Christianity

The conference explores Second Temple Jewish traditions, the historical and religious contexts of early Christianity, Jewish and Christian scriptural interpretation, the Book of Enoch, the New Testament and the development of religious ideas.

Jewish, Christian and Muslim Intellectual Traditions

Selected presentations address relationships between Jewish, Christian and Islamic religious traditions, including prophecy, scriptural interpretation, theological terminology and the historical transmission of religious ideas.

These themes also provide a scholarly bridge to the forthcoming international conference on Christians and Muslims in Israel, scheduled for 25–28 January 2027.
